All our products feature anti-slip characteristics designed to help improve safety in wet or damp outdoor locations.
RESISTANCE
Porcelain stoneware is a strong, waterproof and durable material. It offers a high degree of impact strength, is extremely hard-wearing, and resists weather and frost. It is also resistant to aggressive substances commonly found in pool environments, such as chlorine or brine.
POOL HYGIENE
Tiles are highly antibacterial and anti-mold, helping to maintain excellent hygiene standards around pools and in surrounding areas.
SRI (Solar Reflectance Index)
Various Kronos USA collection colors have a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) between 60% and 84%, which can help reduce the material’s heat absorption.
SCORCHED/BURNING FEET
When a surface is exposed to direct sunlight, scorching can be a serious issue for barefoot traffic. Tests indicate that our material can reach lower temperatures than natural equivalents, helping reduce scorching and burning risk at the hottest times of day.

Pool Edge Tiles
Continuity between the tiling inside and outside the pool is essential. That’s why the choice of pool edge material is crucial, both for safety and appearance. Kronos USA offers a wide choice of pool edge tiles – pool coping – and bespoke trim tiles can be created from any chosen product, to deliver a clean, coordinated finish from the waterline to the surrounding area.
Please note: Pool edge and bespoke trim tiles are made from standard pieces. As a result, the front edge is not fully graphically continued.
WATER COLOR
The color of pool water is shaped by tile color, sunlight and depth. With Kronos USA porcelain pavers, you can control both the visual effect of the water and the performance of your pool environment.
SRI & SURFACE TEMPERATURE
Color is not just aesthetic, it goes beyond appearance and shapes how a space feels.
Light tones enhance brightness, creating clear, luminous water and a fresh overall atmosphere. Darker shades bring depth and intensity, resulting in richer, more reflective water.
From a performance standpoint, light colors (high SRI) reflect solar radiation and keep pool decks cooler underfoot, while darker colors (low SRI) absorb heat and can increase both surface and water temperature. This is especially relevant in warm U.S. climates, where barefoot comfort plays an important role.
MUNSELL VALUE
Munsell Value measures color lightness and is used to support visibility and safety underwater. As a general guideline, higher values (lighter colors) correspond to better visibility. Kronos USA surfaces allow you to design pools that balance aesthetics, safety and long-term performance.
